Who is the final cylon?

Brian’s Final Cylon Musings
by brian on April 17th, 2008
from SF Universe

You taunt me, Final Cylon. I don’t know who you are, yet you haunt my every waking moment. What are your plans? Do you know you’re a Cylon? Will you have a revelation scene as cool as the “All Along The Watchtower” ending from Season 3?

Starbuck? Just too obvious, since no one in the fleet really trusts her after her “death.” Or is it? It’d be just like Battlestar Galactica to make us think there’s no way it could be her and then Blammo! But I think she has a much higher purpose amidst all this.

Bill Adama? Again, it would be too obvious a ploy I think. Although getting Starbuck off the ship with a clunker and a tiny crew could be an integral part of some master plan.

Lee Adama? This would be funny, since it would mean the love of Kara’s life and her husband are both skinjobs. BSG can throw out the comedy at times, like Brother Cavil’s “There’s no way I’m a frakkin’ Cylon – Oh” revelation.

Anastasia Dualla? What kind of poetic justice would it be if both Kara and Lee kicked each other to the curb and found love (or a reasonable facsimile) in the arms of Cylons? And is the whole Anastasia thing a clue? The most famous Anastasia is, of course, the fabled Russian princess who didn’t know her own identity.

President Roslin? She’d be in the best position to frak things up. But would a Cylon miss a prime chance to blow away humanity’s apparent savior in Kara? Perhaps, if the Cylons want to find Earth as badly as we do and think Kara does know the way.

Gaius Baltar? I don’t think it’s him because he wants it so badly. Although it would make his twisted relationship with Six more enjoyable since he’s been teaching her to be “human” in her visions.

Some character presumed dead? Ellen Tigh or Billy Keikeya? I really hope not. I’ve even heard Zac Adama as a rumored possibility. This would be the cheapest move they could make I think. The writers have sort of alluded to it with Lee asking his dad if they would love Zac any less “if he was a Cylon, if he had always been.”

I honestly am unsure, although I lean toward Roslin since she’s so adamant Starbuck is wrong. If Starbuck’s going the right way, it could be advantageous to the Cylons to leave her isolated and try to follow her there.

What are your theories, BSG fans?

Lost Spoilers

More news at www.SciFi-Rebellion.net

from Scifi Wire

Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, executive producers of ABC’s Lost, offered reporters major spoilers for the remainder of the fourth season, which resumes with new episodes on April 24.

Speaking in a conference call with reporters on April 17, they revealed that the conflict between Jack (Matthew Fox) and Locke (Terry O’Quinn) will reach a head in the season finale; that viewers will learn more about the fate of Claire (Emilie de Ravin); and that viewers will learn more about what happened to Rousseau (Mira Furlan) and Karl (Blake Bashoff), who were shot by an unknown assailant and left for dead in the last original episode to air, “Meet Kevin Johnson.”

Also, Cuse promised that viewers will see the smoke monster again in the first new episode back. In upcoming episodes there will be more of the mysterious Jacob, and viewers will also finally learn more about the four-toed statue.

As for the two-part fourth-season finale, “There’s No Place Like Home,” the producers said there was no way they could squeeze in all the story they wanted to tell without expanding the final episode to two hours.

“We had an eight-hour story plan that got condensed down to five initially because of the strike,” Lindelof said. “And in trying to cram all that story around the finale, the rubber hit the road. And we realized that it all felt very rushed and we were short-changing our emotional moments. You know, our character moments. So we read the 80-page first draft of hour two and looked at each other and said, ‘There’s no way we’re going to be able to cut this down to a 55-page script. Why don’t we expand it to 100 pages?’”

The final three hours will deal with the romantic triangle of Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Jack and Sawyer (Josh Holloway). “All we can say is Sawyer is not one of the Oceanic Six, and Jack and Kate are,” Lindelof said. “Obviously there will be a huge focus in these final three hours of the show that comprise the finale in terms of how that series of events transpires and what ultimately happens to Sawyer, and it’s all on the axis of the love triangle. We think that both fans of Sawyer and Kate–otherwise known as the ‘Skaters,’ from what I am told–and Jack and Kate–the ‘Jaters’–will have a bounty of interesting romantic scenes.”

As for that standoff between Jack and Locke? “I think Locke and Jack, to us right from the beginning, represented the two significant philosophical poles of the show,” Cuse said. “Jack was the ultimate empiricist, and Locke was the person who believed his fate and destiny were all tied up in the magic and mystery of this island. And the conflict between those two guys is really the central conflict on our show. So that’s a theme we continue to explore. And there’s a big culmination of that that takes place in this season’s finale.”

Beyond that, the series will be “revisiting the emotional idea” behind the kiss that Jack and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) had early in the season, possibly in the May 1 episode, Lindelof said.

“There are definitely some very large and seismic events that will happen to our castaways between now and the end of the season,” Cuse said. “And by the end of the season some people’s fates will be clear, and others will not be so clear.”

Lost returns with “The Shape of Things to Come,” the first of five new episodes, on April 24 in a new timeslot, Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Part one of “There’s No Place Like Home” will air on May 15. The two-hour second part will air on May 29 at 9 p.m.

(Because of the writers’ strike, the fourth season was shortened by two hours, which will be bumped into the show’s fifth or sixth season.) –Kathie Huddleston

Picardo: Woolsey reinvents himself

More news at SciFi-Rebellion.net

by David Read
from GateWorld

Many fans, some who were just beginning to adjust to the absence of Elizabeth Weir , are now mourning the departure of Samantha Carter from Stargate Atlantis. In four seasons the base has already had two leaders. Now, Season Five, it will take on a third, most unlikely candidate: Richard Woolsey.

“The [International Oversight Advisory] decides to replace the military commander because it was always going to be a science expedition,” Robert Picardo told GateWorld. “In the interim I become the commander while they’re basically head-hunting. I’m doing a sufficient-enough job that I get to stay on.”

GateWorld spoke with Picardo during filming of Season Five’s “Ghost in the Machine.” At this point in the season the actor says Woolsey’s reason for taking the job has yet to be established.

“He clearly wanted [the position],” Bob reveals, but not for the reasons some might jump to suspect. “I can tell by how they’re writing the character. This is something that he wants very-much to prove himself in. And from an actor’s perspective it’s fun to play characters that are trying to reinvent themselves.

“I’ve never enjoyed the challenge of playing someone who is one way happy with the way he is and not about to try to change or to grow … I think that that’s an appealing thing for an audience to see a character that wants to reinvent himself, who realizes what his character flaws are, what his weaknesses are, and wants to try to overcome them. So that’s the part that I’m most enjoying.”

Woolsey’s story arc should prove to be a naquadah mine of potential for growth in Season Five. Amanda Tapping is already scheduled for more appearances beyond the season opener, “Search and Rescue,” and Picardo hopes for a scene which will force the two characters to confront.

“I hope that we’ll get to actually have some sort of confrontation about why I took her job, so to speak,” he says, “or why I recommended that she be replaced, perhaps [pitching] myself as a temporary replacement.”

Stargate Atlantis Spoilers

More news at SciFi-Rebellion.net

‘The Shrine’ is a character study
by Darren Sumner
from GateWorld

Beware of SPOILERS for Stargate Atlantis Season Five’s ‘The Shrine’ in the report below.

Cameras are rolling this week on “The Shrine,” the sixth episode of Stargate Atlantis’s fifth season (formerly titled “The Shrine of Talus”). Written by series co-creator Brad Wright, the episode promises to be a dramatic episode that is heavy with emotion and character moments.

In new interviews with GateWorld, Wright and Atlantis co-star David Hewlett (“Rodney McKay”) revealed details about the story and the impact it is sure to have.

“My favorite script of all time is ‘The Shrine of Talus,’ [which] Brad Wright has just written,” Hewlett said. “It’s good to have Brad. It is the one that is going to blow everyone away. It’s unbelievable. It’s a wicked acting piece. Kate [Hewlett, David's sister] is coming back — we’ve got Jeannie back. It’s just brutal. It’s a total tear-jerker.”

In the episode, Rodney McKay suffers from an mental affliction that rapidly robs him of his memories and his identity.

“It is the inverse of ‘Flowers For Algernon,’” Wright revealed to GateWorld. (In the award-winning novel by Daniel Keyes, a man with an IQ of 68 has experimental surgery to increase his intelligence — but the effects gradually begin to wear off.) “McKay ends up suffering from the effects of something that is very common among the very old in the Pegasus Galaxy that is equivalent to fast on-set Alzheimer’s, that is called ‘Second Childhood’ in the Pegasus Galaxy. And he very quickly not just loses his memory, but becomes quite childlike.

“Interestingly, the first symptom is that he’s a wonderful person,” Wright said. “Nobody notices that there is something wrong at first, because they all like it — until it is too late to operate.

“Ronon comes up with an idea, and the story takes off from there.”

The episode clearly gives Hewlett a large range to play, as the most brilliant person in the Pegasus Galaxy loses everything that he feels makes him who he is, and as McKay interacts with his friends and his sister.

“For McKay it’s fantastic, because there is this whole deterioration thing happening,” Hewlett added. “It is the one that I am, without a doubt, the most looking forward to right now.”

“It’s a character study for practically everyone in the cast, and David gets to play as an actor in a very big way,” Wright said. “I’ve heard it from a few folks reading the script that it has choked them up. Hopefully it has the same effect on the audience when they see the scenes. It’s moving.

“And everything is OK … I don’t kill anyone!”

The new season of Stargate Atlantis is expected to begin in July on SCI FI Channel in the United States, meaning “The Shrine” should air sometime in mid-August.

Jericho season 2 DVD details

Jericho Season Two DVD Details
by brian on April 9th, 2008
from SF Universe

On June 17, the second season of sci-fi fave Jericho explodes (I’m sorry, couldn’t resist) onto DVD. CBS Paramount had initially announced a June 10 release date.

The DVD will include the seven episode second season that ended in the show’s unfortunate cancellation as well as the cliffhanger ending that left things open for a third campaign somewhere.

It also has 14 deleted scenes, audio commentaries on from the cast and crew and two featurettes. The first is Nut Job, a sort of valentine to the fiercely dedicated fans that helped bring the show back for a second season by besieging the network with tons of peanuts.

Rebuilding Jericho is a 25-minute featurette exploring how the show was brought back to life from a production and broadcast standpoint. Video will be in widescreen with audio in 5.1 surround.

Co-executive producers Dan Shotz and Jon Steinberg offer commentary on five episodes on the DVD.

Also on June 17, CBS Paramount will offer a Jericho: The Complete Series package.

CBS May Air 2nd Jericho Ending On Website
by brian on April 6th, 2008
from SF Universe

As Jericho fans know, CBS filmed two endings for the recently axed show. In an interview with If Magazine, Co-Executive Producer Dan Slotz said CBS is debating whether to air the second ending on CBS.com. He said it will definitely appear on the second season DVD. along with numerous other features including one on the infamous “Nuts” campaign.

Fans of the show sent thousands of pounds of peanuts to the CBS offices protesting Jericho’s first cancellation. Their devotion earned the show a short reprieve but ratings never reached the show’s first season peak. Those same rabid fans are now engaged in e-mail and letter writing campaigns to help Jericho find a home on another network. Sci Fi Channel and the CW have been mentioned as potential suitors.

BEWARE OF SPOILERS

alex-beth-picnic.jpg

April 25 is the day when Moonlight fans tune in to CBS at 9pm to enjoy a new episode of the vampire detective series. When we last saw Moonlight, Mick’s ex-wife and sire Coraline has given him a cure that made him temporarily mortal. While his new state may encourage him to get cozy with reporter Beth Turner, she just might not succumb that easily given that Mick refused to turn her dying boyfriend into a bloodsucker. But still, this leaves a whole new world of possibilities for these two to explore.

According to Alex O’Loughlin, who plays vampire private investigator Mick St. John, fans can look forward to a lot of steamy storylines when Moonlight returns with new installments.

“Sex and drama. Lots of sex and drama. Sexy sex and sexy drama,” O’Loughlin said of the upcoming episodes. “We’re just finishing up episode 14, which leads to 15 and 16.”

While the cast of Moonlight hasn’t started shooting the last of the four new installments, which is also the season finale, O’Loughlin reveals that things are getting more and more exciting for his character.

“Things are getting bigger. It doesn’t feel like a finale. It feels like a beginning. I don’t feel like we’re riding for the end. We are at beginning of something huge. I haven’t read episode 16, which is our final installment, but I’ve just finished 15, and it’s fantastic. It’s so full of life, it’s awesome stuff. It’s got some incredible flashbacks, and it’s got some Mick emotion that will knock everyone out of their socks. It’s got a whole bunch of stuff that will really rock the fans,” the Moonlight actor said.

In addition to Alex O’Loughlin, Moonlight also features Jason Dohring as Josef Konstantin, Shannyn Sossamon as Coraline, and Sophia Myles as Beth Turner.

Lost writer Pinkner to head up Abrams’ Fringe series

More news at SciFi-Rebellion.net

‘Lost’ Writer Pinkner to Head Up Abrams’ ‘Fringe’
Friday, April 11, 2008
by: Oscar Dahl, BuddyTV Senior Writer
from: Buddy TV

The J.J. Abrams web continues to grow. The new Abrams pilot, Fringe, which will debut in the Fall on FOX has named a show runner: Jeff Pinkner. This being the case, it’s a little bit of a misnomer that Fringe is a J.J. Abrams show. His clout brought it to fruition, and he obviously had a lot to do with the creation of the pilot, but once it gets up and running, it will be Jeff Pinkner at the helm. Who is Jeff Pinkner? Well, if you’re a Lost fan, then you know Pinker’s work. He’s been a producer on Lost for some time now, and has also written four episodes of the series. Fringe is a sci-fi series, starring Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv and John Noble. The pilot has an exorbitant budget at $10 million, and it will be directed by Alex Graves.

Fringe, in a best case scenario, will become a new X-Files. Jeff Pinkner has had a long relationship with J.J. Abrams. He wrote twelve episodes of Alias, while also serving as a producer on the series. For Lost, he’s written four very good episodes: The Glass Ballerina, Not in Portland, The Man From Tallahassee, and Catch-22. I’d say that The Man From Tallahassee is one of my favorite all-time Lost episodes. While it’s impossible to know if Pinkner will be a great show runner, the J.J. Abrams lineage is a strong one. Handing over the Lost reins to Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof proved to be a wise move.

Fringe is one of those series that will either take off immediately or crash and burn. When a network drops ten million bones on a pilot, yes, the network has a lot of confidence in the product, but they also aren’t going to be content with middling ratings. You also have to consider that Fringe will be on FOX and FOX has a propensity for canceling shows very quickly. Regardless, Fringe was already going to be one of the most highly anticipated new series of next season, and Jeff Pinker’s involvement should only make fans more enticed.

NBC’s official series descriptions

April 02, 2008

NBC’s official series descriptions
from The Hollywood Reporter

nbc11111.jpg

Here’s a closer look at NBC’s new shows for the 2008-09 season. The lineup was announced by the network at their upfront presentation to advertisers Wednesday. The descriptions are provided by NBC.

NEW DRAMAS

MY OWN WORST ENEMY — Henry Spivey (Christian Slater, “Bobby”) is a middle-class efficiency expert living a humdrum life in the suburbs with a wife, two kids, a dog, and a minivan. Edward Albright is an operative who speaks 13 languages, runs a four-minute mile, and is trained to kill with his teeth. Henry and Edward are polar opposites who share only one thing in common — the same body. When the carefully constructed wall between them breaks down, Henry and Edward are thrust into unfamiliar territory where each man is dangerously out of his element. “My Own Worst Enemy” explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself. And it raises the question: who can you trust when you can’t trust yourself? The series is produced by Universal Media Studios. Jason Smilovic (“Kidnapped”) is the executive producer; David Semel (director of the “American Dreams,” “Heroes” and “Life” pilots) is the director and executive producer.

KNIGHT RIDER — On the heels of NBC’s hit movie, the iconic 1980s television classic comes roaring back to life as an updated drama series showcasing the new customized KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) Ford Mustang. As the sequel resumes, KITT is absolutely the coolest car ever created: its supercomputer capable of hacking almost any system; its weapons systems efficient; and its body — thanks to its creator’s work and nanotechnology — is capable of actually shifting shape and color. It is the ultimate car — and someone will be willing to do anything to obtain it. “Knight Rider” stars Justin Bruening (“Cold Case”), Deanna Russo (“NCIS”), Sydney Tamiia Poitier (“Veronica Mars”) and Bruce Davison (“Breach”). David Bartis (“Heist,” “The O.C.”), Doug Liman (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” “The Bourne Identity”) and Gary Scott Thompson (“Las Vegas,” “The Fast and The Furious”) are executive producers and David Andron serves as supervising producer and writer. Based on characters created by Glen Larson, “Knight Rider” is from Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions.

CRUSOE — Based on the legendary novel by Daniel Defoe, this is the tale of Robinson Crusoe. A young man leaves his true love to embark on an adventure — only to end up shipwrecked on a remote tropical island for 28 years, completely detached from the life he once knew. His desire to return to his wife and his strong and unlikely friendship with Friday are the only things that keep him sane. While stranded, Crusoe encounters enemies and braves the elements. Equal parts “MacGyver,” “Castaway” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” this series is an inspirational tale of survival rife with action and comedy. Power Entertainment produces “Crusoe.”

KINGS — “Kings” is an inspiring exploration of the timeless David vs. Goliath struggle. The show is set in a modern metropolis under siege where the fighting has gone on for too long and cost far too many lives. When David Shepherd (Christopher Egan, “Resident Evil: Extinction”), a brave young soldier, rescues the king’s (Golden Globe winner Ian McShane, “Deadwood”) son from enemy territory, he sets events in motion that will finally bring peace. Suddenly, David is thrust into the limelight, earning the affections of women — including the king’s daughter. When he’s promoted to captain, he becomes the reluctant poster boy for hope. But for David, the line between his allies and enemies will blur as the power players in the kingdom go to great lengths to see him fall. From the director (Francis Lawrence) of the blockbuster movie “I Am Legend” comes the ultimate story of David vs. Goliath, and there’s no telling who will win. Sebastian Stan (“Gossip Girl”) also stars. “Kings” is a production of Universal Media Studios; Michael Green (NBC’s “Heroes”) is the executive producer. Francis Lawrence (“I Am Legend”) is the director and executive producer and Erwin Stoff (“I Am Legend”) also is executive producer.

MERLIN — “Merlin” brings to life a new legend for a modern audience. “Merlin” is an exciting, hour-long fantasy series set in the mythic city of Camelot — but inspired by 21st Century storytelling. Before Merlin (Colin Morgan, “Doctor Who”) and Arthur (Bradley James, “Lewis”) became legends, they were ambitious young men looking for adventure, hoping to live up to their family’s expectations, discovering love and finding their own true destiny, making mistakes along the way. The innovative, action-packed drama has cross-generational appeal and paints a picture of Merlin and Arthur’s early life that audiences have never witnessed before. Anthony Head (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), Richard Wilson (“A Passage to India”), Angel Coulby (“Magicians”) and Katie McGrath (“The Tudors”) also star. A FremantleMedia Enterprises distribution of a Shine production for BBC.

THE PHILANTHROPIST — This one-hour drama is about a rebel with a cause. Teddy Rist loves women, money and power. After the tragic death of his only child, Teddy has an awakening and becomes the world’s first vigilante philanthropist — a renegade billionaire who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need. He’ll do anything to achieve his goals — bargain with the self-righteous, trade with the nefarious and even tell the truth. Instead of spending $25,000 a plate at a fundraiser, he’s dodging bullets in third-world countries to hand-deliver vaccine. It’s a global adventure that will take viewers to the ends of the Earth and will inspire them as well. “The Philanthropist” is produced by Universal Media Studios, Original Media and the Levinson/Fontana Company. Tom Fontana (“Homicide: Life on the Street”), Barry Levinson (“Homicide: Life on the Street”) and Charlie Corwin (“L.A. Ink”) are the executive producers; Jim Juvonen is a co-executive producer.

THE LISTENER — In this one-hour drama, Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, “The Runaway”) is a 24-year-old paramedic living with a secret: he can read people’s minds. This telepathic procedural takes viewers into the heart of a tortured hero who struggles to solve crimes with his unique gift. Week-to-week, “The Listener” balances high-stakes drama with irreverent humor and sends Toby on an intellectual and emotional adventure. Ennis Esmer (“The Path to 9/11″) also stars. “The Listener” is a production of Program Partners and Shaftesbury Films. The executive producers are Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Michael Amo, Russ Cochrane, Glen Davis and Bill Laurin.

NEW COMEDIES

THE OFFICE SPINOFF – From Greg Daniels, the executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning American version of NBC’s “The Office,” comes the most highly anticipated comedy of the season in “The Office” spinoff. Audiences will follow another comic journey, complete with new faces and new locations, but with the same unique sense of humor and brand of quality from Daniels and his creative team. It’s the next chapter of what viewers have come to know and love about “The Office.”

KATH & KIM — They’re the most dysfunctional duo in suburbia. Kath Day (Molly Shannon, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”) is the mom, a foxy, 40-something divorcee who finally has time for herself and her valiant search for love. Kim Day (Selma Blair, “Hellboy II,” “Legally Blonde,” “Cruel Intentions”) is the daughter, a self-absorbed princess recently separated from her husband who finds consolation in stuffing her face. When Kim decides to move back home, Kath reluctantly agrees — but to Kim’s chagrin, Kath is not about to cater to her every whim as she has in the past. Based on the most successful comedy in Australia of the same name, Kath and Kim are two brassy women who prefer the finer things in life like acrylic nails, big hair and faux diamond chips. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios and Reveille. The executive producer/writer is Michelle Nader (“The King of Queens”) and the executive producer/director is Paul Feig (“Freaks and Geeks,” “The Office”). Gina Riley, Jane Turner and Rick McKenna also are executive producers.

SNL THURSDAY NIGHT LIVE – Dubbed “TV’s funniest and most influential political player” by Entertainment Weekly, “SNL” expands its “Weekend Update” coverage to Thursdays in primetime for three live half-hour shows beginning October 16. With all of the excitement and attention around “Saturday Night Live” during the presidential primaries, the anticipation for the show’s take on this Fall’s election will be at a fever pitch, “SNL Thursday Night Live” will keep the momentum — and the laughs — going. The program is a production of Broadway Video in association with SNL Studios. Lorne Michaels is the executive producer.

NEW ALTERNATIVE

CHOPPING BLOCK — It’s time to sharpen your knives! It’s not just about the meal, it’s about the business of food. From the producers of “Hell’s Kitchen,” original rock-star chef Marco Pierre White comes to America to host the ultimate food fight on NBC — a new reality competition set in the high-drama, high-stakes world of New York City restaurants. The cooks are given a grilling over the course of the series. The teams, which are made up of couples, will be tested in challenges that vary from having less than a week to design and revamp a restaurant space to planning a menu and creating a signature dish. The winning couple will get a chance to have their dreams come true — opening their very own restaurant in Manhattan. The series is produced by Granada America.

AMERICA’S TOUGHEST JOBS – From creator/executive producer Thom Beers (“Deadliest Catch,” “Ice Road Truckers”) and executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, “America’s Toughest Jobs” is a new extreme competition series that will test 12 people who venture out of their safe, comfortable careers and are injected into some of the most challenging, dangerous and demanding jobs on earth. From logging high in the Oregon Forest to oil drilling on the Texas range, or from driving icy roads to extreme fishing — each job requires guts and stamina, and they’ll have to live up to the same standards as the pros. In the end, their new boss and co-workers will determine success or failure, and those who don’t make the grade get sent home. Upping the ante, the annual salary of each job will be thrown into the pot until the finale, where one rookie will take home the well-earned cash. “America’s Toughest Jobs” is created by executive producer Beers and is produced by Original Productions and BermanBraun.

SHARK TAGGERS — From creator/executive producer Thom Beers (“Deadliest Catch,” “Ice Road Truckers”) and executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, “Shark Taggers” is a one-hour reality series that follows daring marine biologists as they track down the ocean’s top predators and hand-tag them with cutting-edge satellite transmitters or investigate bull sharks’ sudden attacks on surfers. The series is produced by Original Productions and BermanBraun.

MOST OUTRAGEOUS MOMENTS — This half-hour show proves that anything can happen when the cameras keep rolling. Audiences can enjoy hilarious outtakes from some of NBC’s most popular shows, as well as outrageous moments from home videos, newscasts, game shows and commercials from around the globe. “Most Outrageous Moments” is produced by Universal Media Studios and Scott Satin Productions. Scott Satin (“Who Wants to Be a Superhero?”) serves as executive producer.

NEW EVENTS/MINISERIES/MOVIES

THE LAST TEMPLAR — In this four-hour miniseries, Oscar winner Mira Sorvino (“Mighty Aphrodite”) stars in an epic action-adventure tale about the greatest mystery of our time. At the New york Metropolitan Museum, four horsemen dressed as 12th century knights storm the gala opening of an exhibition of Vatican treasures and steal an arcane medieval decoder. For archaeologist Tess Chaykin (Sorvino) and FBI agent Sean Daly (Scott Foley, “The Unit”), this is just the start of a suspenseful game of cat and mouse as they race across three continents in search of the enemy — and the lost secret of the Knights Templar. The miniseries is produced by MUSE Entertainment Enterprises. Victor Garber (“Alias”) and Omar Sharif (“Doctor Zhivago”) also star. Emmy Award-winning television impresario Robert Halmi Sr. (“Tin Man,” “Gulliver’s Travels”), Robert Halmi, Jr. (“The Poseidon Adventure,” “The Christmas Card”), and Michael Prupas (“Human Trafficking”) will executive-produce the miniseries.

XIII – “XIII” is a high-stakes cat-and-mouse thriller starring Val Kilmer (“The Doors”) and Stephen Dorff (“World Trade Center”). This adrenaline-charged miniseries begins dramatically as the first female U.S. President is shot dead by a sniper during her Veteran’s Day speech. Three months later, a wounded man is found tattered in a forest with no memory of his identity. The only clue is a tattoo on his neck, “XIII.” Could his lightning-fast reflexes and killer instincts betray him as the presidential assassin that the U.S. is desperately searching for? Submerged in a far-reaching conspiracy, which threatens to overthrow the entire government, XIII’s identity becomes the key to unraveling a complex and dangerous secret that will shock and excite. From the first bullet, this gripping action-thriller will leave audiences gasping for more. “XIII” is produced by Prodigy Pictures and Cipango.

It’s official: Lost and Grey’s finales get an extra hour

It’s official: Lost and Grey’s finales get an extra hour

Posted Apr 12th
by Erin Martell
From: TV Squad

lost-sheppard.jpg

The rumored fourteenth hour of Lost is happening! E!’s Kristin Dos Santos confirmed that there will be an extended Lost finale this season. The two-hour finale has become a whopping three-hour episode. Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse felt that an extra hour was crucial to wrapping up the season four storylines, and ABC agreed. According to Kristin, the script for part two of the finale was 80 pages long. Imagine cramming all of that into one hour!

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the return of Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty to the Thursday night lineup does make scheduling this additional hour a bit tricky. The original plan was for the two-part Lost finale to air over two nights, and have all three shows end on May 22. TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that the Lost finale has been rescheduled, making room for a two-hour Grey’s Anatomy season finale.

ABC has made some changes to the final weeks of its Thursday lineup:

* On May 15, Part One of the Lost finale will follow new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty; nothing new there.
* There will be no Lost episode on May 22. The Ugly Betty finale and the new, two-hour Grey’s finale will air instead.
* On May 29, ABC has scheduled an encore of Part One, followed by the two-hour, second installment of the Lost finale.

This is fantastic news for Lost and Grey’s fans alike. I’m particularly pleased that I’ll be able to view the entire three-hour Lost finale in one sitting. I’ll still watch Part One on May 15, but it will be nice to see the finale as a complete episode. When I first heard that the finale was getting broken up over two nights, I was a little bummed out. Now the last episode of Lost Season Four will be a huge, three-hour event.
